Q: How do I enroll in a class?
A: Enrolling is easy. Simply follow this link for a listing of Kindermusik classes. Find the class that works for you and your child and look for the "Sign up Today!" button to the right of that class. Follow the prompts and you can begin class as early as a few days from now. There is a how to enroll video on the Our Classes page if you need further help with enrollment.
Q: Can I try a class first before enrolling?
A: Yes! You can try a no obligation demo class so that you know what Kindermusik is all about and be sure that your child will love it. Click on the tab at the top of the page that says "Demo Class". You will see a listing of options for classes that you can preview, as well as the age range of the children in that class. The first step is to choose which location you would like to try your demo class at, then choose the one that works best for you and follow the prompts to register for your free trial class and experience the joy of Kindermusik.
Q: How long is the enrollment commitment?
A: Kindermusik classes are charged monthly and each month a new unit is started. Once you register, you are enrolled until you choose to unenroll. You are required to submit a withdrawal form 10 days prior to your unenrollment.
Q: Do I have to wait for a new unit to begin in a class?
A: No, you can enroll at any time in a class that is not full. If the class you would like to enroll in is full, you will be put on a wait list. If you join a class that is already started for the month, you will be pro-rated for the portion of the classes that are remaining for that month.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Monthly tuition is $60. In addition to 45 minute weekly classes, you will receive digital home materials - song downloads, musical eBooks, educational videos and games, parenting tips, and access to a parenting blog. Additionally, each month a new unit begins on a topic that is relevant to your child, and you will receive either an instrument, a book, a music CD, or another membership perk. There are also community events held throughout the year that only enrolled families are invited to. Your child will be making new friends, and so will the parents. Think of it is a "mom tribe" that you can meet with each week for support, friendship and ideas.
Q: Can I bring a friend to class with me?
A: Absolutely! Please notify your instructor that you have a friend that would like to come to class with you. Your friend is still required to register to preview a class. If the friend enrolls in a class, you are entitled to a gift from the vendors listed on the Referral Program page.
Q: Can I pay a drop in rate?
A: Due to the importance of the repetition in class and the home materials that are included with your registration, you are required to make your tuition payment each month. Your Kindermusik educator plans for each class and is prepared with materials and instruments for the participants, therefore she needs to know how many students to expect in each class. As an alternative, there are opportunities to attend Kindermusik playdates throughout the year. A Kindermusik playdate is a one-time class where each participant takes home an instrument and music.
Q: When are the classes?
A: To see a full listing of classes, go to Class schedule
Q: Can I bring my other children to class with me?
A: Our studio is very family friendly. You are welcome to bring older siblings to class to observe, and you are welcome to bring younger siblings to class that can be held or quietly sit through the 45 minute classes. If you wish to enroll more than one child in class, as long as they are within the age range for that class, there is a sibling discount of 50% for the second child.
Q: How long do the classes last?
A: Most Kindermusik classes are 45 minutes in length. For the Level 1, Level 2 and Mixed Ages classes, the caregiver participates with the child/children for the entire 45 minutes. For Level 3 and Level 4 classes, the caregiver brings the child to class and then leaves the room for the bulk of the class, then returns to the classroom to participate for the last 10 minutes of class. For Level 5 classes, also referred to as Young Child, there is no caregiver participation and the classes are 60 minutes in length.
Q: What if I can't bring my child every week?
A: The key to the success of the Kindermusik program is in repetition. It is important that you set aside the 45 minutes each week so that your child can maximize learning and development. If you are not able to attend each week with your child, consider asking another caregiver to bring them to class for that week that you will need to miss. Grandparents or other special relatives, babysitters, or another important person in your child's life is welcome at class. We kindly ask that you let us know if another individual will be bringing your child to class in your place.
Q: What if we are on vacation or out of town, or someone is sick and my child has to miss class?
A: Our studio has a lenient policy on missed classes. There are other times throughout the week when the same class type is offered. If your child is sick, we certainly appreciate you staying home to rest and recover so that others in the class do not get exposed to sickness. Please notify your teacher that you have to miss, and we are happy to allow you to attend another class once your child is healthy. If you are traveling, we do allow you to pay a pro-rated amount for the class one time during each semester. Beyond that, there isn't a refund for missed classes. However, we are happy to allow you to attend a makeup class during another time for that week or the following week that your child had to miss class.
